Ocoya vs Later
Visual-first planning for Instagram-led brands, sold in social sets.
Later is the Instagram-native planner grown up: a visual calendar, link in bio, UGC collection and, further up, listening and influencer work. Its pricing is built around the Social Set — one profile on each of the eight networks it supports — which is elegant if your brands look like that and awkward if they do not. The two things to check before switching to it are the post cap and the AI allowance: Starter is thirty posts per profile per month with five AI credits, where Ocoya has no post cap and 300 credits at $29. Later also does not publish to X, Google Business or Bluesky at all. If Instagram is the whole job and you like the visual planner, Later. If you post everywhere and need the content made, us.
Where each one is stronger.
Every claim in the Later column comes from a page they publish, checked in September 2026. Rows where they are ahead are marked as such.
| Capability | ||
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $29/mo on Starter — 1 user, 5 social profiles, 300 AI credits | $18.75/mo billed yearly on Starter — 1 social set (8 profiles), 1 user |
| Post volume | No cap on how many posts you schedule or publish | 30 posts per profile per month on Starter, 180 on Growth; unlimited only on the $82.50/mo Scale plan |
| Team seats | 1, 5 or 20 users depending on plan — seats are part of the plan, not an add-on | 1 user on Starter, 2 on Growth; extra users are $3.75/mo each |
| AI copywriting | AI captions from a prompt, with brand voice, tone and length controls, on every plan — plus rewrite, shorten, expand, tone and translate-into-37-languages on any caption | AI content tools metered in credits — 5/month on Starter, 50 on Growth, 100 on Scale; extra credits $3.75/mo per 100 |
| AI image & video | AI image and AI video generation in-app, from the same credit pool | No AI image or video generation advertised |
| Campaign generation | One prompt becomes a whole campaign — posts, visuals and a schedule across every network | Smart Scheduling drafts timely posts from trend data; there is no one-prompt campaign |
| Design tooling | Design Studio built in — templates, brand kit and a full editor in the same tab as the calendar | A visual planner and media library, plus UGC collection — no first-party editor |
| Networks | 14 integrations: Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Bluesky, Threads, YouTube Shorts, Google Business, TikTok, Discord, Dribbble, Kick and WooCommerce | Eight, and a social set is one of each: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Threads and Snapchat. X, Google Business and Bluesky are not supported |
| Unified inbox | DMs, comments and mentions from every connected profile, with assignment, open/resolved statuses and internal notes | Social inbox from the $37.50/mo Growth plan — not on Starter |
| MCP / AI assistant control | mcp.ocoya.com — an OAuth-secured MCP server covering the whole product: create, design, schedule, run workflows and switch brands. Included on every plan | No MCP server published |
| Link in bio | Not offered | Link in Bio by Later, one of the products they are known for |
| Approval workflows | Request approval on any post: pick which brand members review it, they get an email with one-click approve or reject, and the post cannot publish until it is approved. Every decision is logged on the post. Not gated behind a higher tier | Internal and external collaboration and approvals from Growth — reviewers do not need a Later login |
| Free trial | 7-day free trial of the full product | 14-day free trial |

Choose Ocoya if
- You publish to X, Google Business or Bluesky — Later does none of them
- You do not want a monthly cap on how many posts a profile can take
- Five AI credits a month is not an AI plan
- You want images and video generated, not just organised
- You want a design studio rather than a media library
- You want an MCP server so Claude or ChatGPT can run the account
Choose Later if
- Instagram is the centre of your strategy and the visual planner is the point
- You want link in bio and UGC collection from the same tool
- You want to start under $20/mo
- One profile per network per brand fits how you are organised
- Influencer campaigns and social listening are on your roadmap
We would rather tell you this now than have you find out after migrating a year of content.
